Global Rubber starts up solid tyre plant

Negombo, Sri Lanka - Global Rubber Industries (Pvt.) Ltd., a Sri Lankan manufacturer of solid industrial, press-on-band and skid-steer tyres, has started up the second of its two production facilities in Negombo.
The company held opening ceremonies at the $6 million, 22,365-sq.-ft. plant Sept. 8.
The new facility-along with the existing 15,106-sq.-ft. plant that opened when the company was founded in 2002-gives Global Rubber a total annual capacity of 400,000 tyres, the company said.
Global Rubber has more than 500 employees and has ISO 9001:2008 certification. It has set a goal of becoming of the leading global tyre suppliers to the material handling industry, the company said.
The plant opening “marked the beginning of a new era at Global Rubber Industries,†said Prabhash Subasinghe, managing director of Global Rubber.
Currently Global Rubber exports tyres to more than 40 countries including the US, Australia, New Zealand, the European Union, Eastern Europe and Africa. Its range of brands include Ultimate XT, Peak Master, Performer and Air Ryde.
Global Rubber has sales offices in North America, France, Germany and the Netherlands. It is part of Amaseuro Holdings, a Colombo, Sri Lanka-based, export-oriented firm which also owns Global Seafoods (Pvt.) Ltd.; Global Fishers (Pvt.) Ltd.; and Lankan Fishers (Pvt.) Ltd.
