Irish Tyre safety Day set for Tuesday
ERJ staff report (DS)
Dublin -- Ireland's Road Safety Authority has declared Tuesday 11 October to be Tyre Safety Day. The day falls within Irish Road Safety Week, which runs from Monday 10th October to Sunday 16th October.
Of the 560,000 vehicles tested at NCT (National Car Test) in the first six month of this year more than 106,076 problems relating to tyres were found. The reasons for tyres failing the NCT range from the incorrect tread depth to the condition of the tyres, for example, a cut or break in the fabric.
The Tyre Safety Day is being held in conjunction with the Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) which is holding its tyre safety week to coincide with the RSA's Road Safety Week.
