Out-of-Spec compound causes production outage at DATL
ERJ staff report (DS)
Birmingham, UK -- Dunlop Aircraft Tyres (DATL) factory in Birmingham UK suffered a three-day production outage earlier this week, due to the delivery of some out-of-specification compound from an external supplier. A spokesman said while the issue did cause some disruption to production, there was no disruption to customers.
The company issued a brief statement saying, “As a precaution we immediately isolated new and retreaded tyres that contained the affected material and we suspended all production for three days until our supplier was able to deliver new material."
Ian Edmondson, chairman of DATL said “We regret that this meant we had to delay the delivery of tyres to some of our customers but we are working with each of them to limit any impact on their operation to an absolute minimum.â€
