China initiates research into tyre labelling
ERJ staff report (DS)
Beijing, China -- Jiang Jian of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology told delegates to the Lanxess Rubber day in Beijing on Friday that, “With regard to potential guidelines for tyre labeling in China, we are comparing the stipulated standards with the present conditions. We have already made a start with research in this area.†He added,
“China's tyre industry is highly dependent on exports, and for this reason we stipulate that the tyre manufacturers already step up to the challenge of adhering to indirect guidelines such as those in place in the EU - and this is something they are more than capable of.â€
Ge Guorong of Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber said, “Mandatory tyre labeling in China is just a matter of time. However, it must happen on a step-by-step basis - beginning with simple regulations. The main thing is that we actually take the first step in this direction and then continue to improve more and more.â€
The day focussed on the contribution by Lanxess products to the development of low-rolling resistance tyres in other parts of the world, and how these products and technologies can contribute to improvements in efficient transportation solutions in China.
