Freudenberg anti-fraud product marking gets European patent
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Weinheim, Germany - Freudenberg's 'safe' procedure, which was introduced three years ago, has been granted a European patent (EP 2 096 580 B1).
The procedure gives elastomer components such as seals, diaphragms, and elastomer composite parts an anti-fraud marking. safe provides clear product identification with information covering item description, model, dimensions, material, date of manufacture and serial number for reliable traceability and to guard against counterfeiting, Freudenberg said.
Two different safe product marking forms are available to ensure that each product can be appropriately marked. As well as a flat, rectangular code, a rounded product marking, e.g. for O-rings, can also be provided. There are considerable advantages to marking products in this way: the code is still legible even if up to 70 percent of the marking has been destroyed, e.g. through wear, according to Freudenberg.
