Del-Nat recalling 2,633 Chaparral Radial XT tyres in US
ERJ staff report (TB)
Memphis, Tennessee -- Del-Nat Tire Corp. is voluntarily recalling 2,633 Chaparral Radial XT tyres, size P235/75R15 in the US, because of the potential for blistering on the sidewall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The case can be researched under NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 12T007.
The tyres were manufactured in China by Guizhou Tyre I/E Co. Ltd., according to Del-Nat, which said in a document supplied by NHTSA that an air bubble on the sidewall could indicate a separation. Tread chunking also could occur, the document said.
In its communication with NHTSA, the tyres being recalled are the same size and manufactured during the same time by Guizhou Tyre as 12,289 Extra Grip AR215 radials being recalled by GTC North America Inc. The reason for the recall is the same as well.
Canton,Ohio-based GTC said it has had no warranty claims, no customer complaints, and no injuries or fatalities resulting from the use of this tyre.
Guizhou Tyre discontinued the tyre line in December 2009, GTC said, after the imposition of elevated US tariffs on Chinese consumer tyres.
