Mitsui CEO to take 40% pay cut following fatal accident

Iwakuni, Japan - Senior executives of Mitsui Chemical are to take pay cuts following the fatal accident at Mitsui's Iwakuni-Ohtake Resorcinol plant last Sunday.
Mitsui's President & CEO will take a cut of 40 percent of executive compensation; other executive officers will see compensation fall by 30 percent. The cuts are for an indefinite period beginning in April 2012.
Mitsui Chemicals said in the statement that it, “extends heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased and sincerest apologies to all persons injured in the accident, residents suffering damages to homes and property, persons of the local community, persons working at nearby companies, the authorities, our customers, and all stakeholders.â€
