ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo - Mitsui Chemicals has published its annual results, and also issued a statement on the fatal explosion on 22 April at its Iwakuni-Ohtake works.
Because investigations into the explosion are still underway, the company has not issued financial forecasts for the current financial year.
Mitsui's president and CEO, Toshikazu Tanaka issued a statement apologising for the incident and explaining progress on the investigatinos and expected counter-measures. He said investigations are still underway, but the company will spare no effort to regain the trust of the local and business communities.
Corporate sales increased 4.5 percent to yen 1454 billion (euro 14,477 million). The document did not refer to other rubber-related materials such as EPDM.
