Japanese auto production was up in April

Tokyo - A year after the great Tohoku earthquake in Japan, automotive production was massively up on the earthquake-hit figures from April a year ago.
Automobile production in April 2012 was recorded as 799,474 units. Compared with the 292,044 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 507,430 units or 173.8%, and production increase on the same month of the previous year for seven consecutive months.
Motorcycle production in April 2012 was recorded as 44,267 units. Compared with the 43,741 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 526 units or 1.2%, and production increase on the same month of the previous year for five consecutive months.
Automobile export in April 2012 was recorded as 402,389 units. Compared with the 126,061 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 276,328 units or 219.2%, and export increase on the same month of the previous year for four consecutive months.
Total value of automobiles exported for April 2012 was $13,617.109 million including $9,838.099 million for vehicles and $3,779.010 million for parts. This is an increase of $7,703.663 million or 130.3% as compared with $5,913.446 million recorded for the same month of the previous year.
Motorcycle export in April 2012 was recorded as 38,099 units. Compared with the 31,435 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 6,664 units or 21.2%, and export increase on the same month of the previous year for eight consecutive months.
Total value of motorcycles exported for April 2012 was $395.347 million including $271.374 million for vehicles and $123.973 million for parts. This is an increase of $36.654 million or 10.2% as compared with $358.693 million recorded for the same month of the previous year.
