Cooper's Serbian plant achieves ISO 9001
ERJ staff report (TB)
Findlay, Ohio -- Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s plant in Krusevac, Serbia, has earned ISO 9001:2008 quality standard certification, the global benchmark for providing assurance about the ability to satisfy quality requirements and to enhance customer satisfaction in supplier-customer relationships.
Cooper bought the plant - formerly owned and operated by Serbia's Trayal Corp. - in January from Serbian privatization authorities and pledged to invest $67 million to upgrade the 35-year-old car and light truck tire plant.
The Serbian plant joins Cooper's seven other worldwide tire factories and technical centers as having achieved ISO 9001:2008.
“We adhere to the highest standards of quality throughout our organization,†said Hal Miller, president of Cooper's International Tire Division. “Earning ISO 9001:2008 at all eight of the tire manufacturing plants globally demonstrates our ongoing commitment to quality and continuous process improvement, which aligns with our strategic plan goals.â€
Krusevac Plant Manager Peter Salmon said, “This marks another step in making Serbia a globally competitive manufacturing facility,†noting certification came just months after production at the plant re-started in February.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISA) is the world`s largest developer and publisher of international standards.
