Consumer Reports tests tyres
ERJ staff report (DS)
New York - US Consumer Reports organisation has tested over 75f tyres and will publish the results in its November magazine. The publishers say, "Along the way, we've had a few surprises.".
In a sneak preview of the trends seen among 20 T-rated tyres, CR notices that rolling resistiance is getting better among the tyres, but keeping the tyre topped up with air is a better way of saving fuel.
They add, “Normally, we don't read too much into the government UTQG ratings (which stands for "Uniform Tire Quality Grade Standards"--a federal grading system that compares tires' tread life), but in this case our results are in line with the class-leading government ratings of 820 and 800 for the Michelin Defender and Yokohama Avid Ascend, respectively. “
