Bridgestone goes up! with Volkswagen
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Brussels -- Volkswagen has chosen Bridgestone Ecopia EP25 low-rolling-resistance tyres as standard equipment for its new “up!†city car.
Volkswagen unveiled the A-segment up! at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011. Bridgestone started delivery of Ecopia EP25 tyres in sizes 165/70R14 81T and 175/65R14 82T in November 2011 for up! models sold in EU countries and the rest of the world. The blue motion version of the up! will be fitted with 175/65R14 82T.
“Ecopia EP25 tyres are designed specifically to provide new-generation city cars with increased fuel efficiency and Bridgestone is proud that Europe's largest car manufacturer has selected EP25 for the up!†said Edwin Van der Stad, Director Sales, Consumer Business Unit, Bridgestone Europe.
The same sizes of Ecopia EP25 tyres will also be standard fitment on the new Skoda Citigo, built on the up! global platform.
The Ecopia EP25 design features Bridgestone's compound technology which it says lowers tyre rolling resistance - leading to lower fuel consumption - without compromising other areas of performance such as wet safety.
