Cooper plant receives environmental designation from US government
ERJ staff report (R&PN)
Texarkana, Arkansas.-Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Texarkana plant recently earned “Superior Energy Performance†status from the US Department of Energy, awarded to facilities that achieve a 5-percent improvement in energy performance over a three-year time span.
Cooper said Texarkana actually achieved a 10.1-percent improvement over three years, earning it the DOE's “Gold Certified Partner†status. An improvement of 15 percent or more yields platinum status.
Improvements Cooper made to the energy management system at the Texarkana car and light truck tyre plant to qualify for the awards also earned the plant ISO 50001:2011 and ANSI/MSE 50021:2012 certifications, the company said.
