Kian Hon opens retread tire facility

Kuala Lumpur - Kian Hon Tyres has launched a $6.6 million retreading plant in Nibong Tebal, Malaysia, The Malaysian Insider reported.
Kian Hon, which partnered with Taiwan-based Cheng Shin Rubber to form Maxxis International Malaysia, will be the main retreading and tread liner production hub for Maxxis tires in the country.
Kian Hon Chairman Tan Yang Nam said his company expects 2013 sales of about $66 million, up from about $41 million in 2012.
The new plant will have a maximum capacity of 120,000 retreaded tires annually.
Maxxis is reportedly assessing locations in Indonesia and the Philippines for future retreading facilities.
