Prague – Nexen Tire has ramped up the recruitment drive for its under-construction tire plant in Zatec, the Czech Republic, the company has announced.
The programme, which was launched last December, aims to secure 500 employees for the facility this year, said Nexen. Training is being offered for the roles, which include positions for mechanics, setters, tool makers.
The South Korean tire manufacturer expects to complete construction of the facility, with operations scheduled to begin early next year.
The company has already recruited 140 people in the Czech Republic mainly in management roles, according to local media reports.
As previously reported by ERJ, Nexen broke ground on the €829-million project in October 2015. Start-up for phase 1, producing roughly 15,000 units a day, was originally scheduled for 2018.
The tire-maker plans to gradually increase its annual production capacity to over 12 million units, and create more than 1,000 jobs in the region at the new plant.
