Apollo shows up poor tire maintenance in Middle East
ERJ staff report (BC)
Gurgaon, India - A tire safety campaign by Apollo Tyres found that as many as 79% of cars checked free of charge in UAE and Saudi Arabia had incorrect inflation pressures.
Apollo partnered with Lulu Hypermarket for the survey from 10-12 January in Dubai and 23-24 January in Dammam.
53% of drivers were unaware of the recommended inflation pressure for their tires and only 20% were aware of the presence of a tread wear
indicator.
Apollo plans to conduct Safe Drive campaigns regularly in different parts of the Middle East to encourage safer driving habits.
Other campaign locations include India, Iran, Turkmenistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
