Denka notes “firm” demand for chloroprene rubber
Tokyo – Denka Co. Ltd achieved increased shipments of chloroprene rubber in the three months to 30 June, the company said in a first quarter result statement.
Denka’s chloroprene rubber business also contributed to higher profits at the group’s Elastomers & Performance Plastics division in the first quarter.
Earnings at the Elastomers & Performance Plastics segment “were higher year-on-year due to increased shipment and price revision of polychloroprene rubber,” reported Denka. This trend, it added, is expected to continue.
Overall, the Elastomers & Performance Plastics unit reported first quarter sales of Yen42.6 billion (€324.6 million), up 20.3% compared to a year ago.
Operating income at the elastomers and plastics division came in 40.9 % higher at Yen3.1 billion, reflecting higher prices, Denka stated.
