Montreal, Canada – Innovation is “a long way to walk alone,” a senior official of tire cord major Kordsa told delegates at this week’s Michelin Movin’ On sustainability conference.
In a presentation at the event, held 13-15 June in Montrea, Kordsa’s chief operating officer of North America Jim Del Piano emphasised the need for open innovation when it comes to developing new mobility solutions.
Kordsa’s own open innovation practices include a recently opened composite technologies centre. There the company’s experts work together with Sabanc? University’s academic members and doctoral students in R&D and production processes.
Kordsa claims to reinforce one out of every three automotive vehicle tires and two out of every three aircraft tires.
Tire cord can help make mobility more sustainable by reducing rolling resistance and hence fuel consumption as well as offering light-weight composite technologies.
