Hamburg, Germany – Weber & Schaer GmbH & Co. KG (W&S) is acquiring a majority stake in distributor Polymer Service PSG GmbH to advance its position in thermoplastics, W&S has announced.
The takeover will be completed in two stages by the end of 2018, said W&S, a European distributor of natural rubber, synthetic rubber, rubber chemicals and adhesive raw materials.
Polymer-Service PSG, founded in Hamburg in 1989 specialises in the distribution of TPE, polyamides, polysulphones, colours and additives to the European market.
Established back in 1844, W&S supplies Chemigum (NBR) and Sunigum (ASA), TPV and CPE materials to processors of thermoplastic raw materials. Its operations include a technical support lab staffed by five technicians.
W&S subsidiary Braun Battenberg Mahlwerke GmbH (BBM) specialises in the milling of rubber, aramide fibres, raw materials for gaskets and pulverisation of thermoset plastics.
“Polymer-Service supplies already numerous raw materials to producers of specialised compounds. We will complete the portfolio with our products like materials for the tribological modification of thermoplastics.” said Jörg Braun, managing director of BBM.
Andreas Hohn, MD and founder of Polymer-Service PSG, added that the takeover would enable the company to offer “more high performance products and services to our long term customers."
