Nexen appoints new CEO
Seoul – Nexen Tire has appointed incumbent president Travis Kang, son of the company’s chairman Byung-Joong Kang, as its chief executive officer (CEO).
The decision was made in a general shareholders' meeting held on 17 Feb with the aim to “raise expectations for the company”, Nexen said in an announcement.
The company said it expected Kang's leadership to help it “take a fast and dramatic approach in business policies based on long-term plans in order to make quick and bold investment for the company".
Kang holds a business administration degree from Yonsei University and a master's degree from the business school of Seoul National University.
He joined the company in March 2001 and has held various positions including managing director of the business planning office, president of the sales division and president of strategic planning.
