London – The head of Continental AG’s global R&D, David O’Donnell, has warned that the tire industry should expect rubber prices to bounce back sharply, following a five-year period of deep decline.
Declines in natural rubber prices were not going to last for long, O’Donnell told ERJ during a 5 Dec press event in London – explaining the strategy behind Conti’s dandelion rubber programme.
“The natural rubber price, as low as it is, will bounce back up and we will be hit by the tsunami,” said O’Donnell, who also forecast oil prices to recover from their current slump.
