Pirelli, Rosneft seek synthetic rubber partner
Milan, Italy – Pirelli and Rosneft have agreed to find a technology partner to help them further development their activities in the rubber sector in the Nakhodka region
The deal follow an agreement signed last May for the production and supply of synthetic rubber, includes styrene-butadiene bubber (SBR), in that region.
Under the latest agreement, announced 17 Oct, the companies are to identify a partner from a short list within three months
Under the terms of the MOU, Rosneft and the future partner will study ways in which the joint production of synthetic rubber could be launched in Nakhodka.
For its part, Pirelli is to collaborate in the related R&D activities and could also enter into a long-term agreement to purchase the synthetic rubber jointly produced by Rosneft and the new partner
“SBR is of particular interest as it is an eco-friendly material used in the production of ‘green tires’, which improves fuel efficiency and grip in both wet and dry conditions,” Pirellii noted.
