Goodyear considers options after tyre-death appeal rejected

Jackson, Mississippi — Goodyear has said it is considering its options following the Mississippi Court of Appeals’ upholding a $2.1 million verdict in a product liability-wrongful death case.

The appeals court ruled April 21 that Goodyear and Big 10 Tires & Accessories, a Hattiesburg, Mississippi, tyre store, were at least partly to blame in the August 2000 crash in Copiah County, Mississippi, that killed 20-year-old driver Travis Kirby and injured his passengers, 18-year-old Riley Strickland and 19-year-old Sidney Odom.
