Yokohama to build tyre plant in Russia

Tokyo — Yokohama Rubber Co has said it intends to build a car tyre factory in Russia. The company said its application for the plant, located in the Lipetsk Economic zone, was recently approved. The company expects to sign a formal contract early in 2009.

The application covers 20 hectares with a planned output of 1.4 million units/year, due on stream in 2011. Yokohama said it intends to invest around Rbl 35 000 million (euro 850 million) in the project. (Editor’s note: this…
