South African tyre recycling plant will have capacity for 1kt/month

Cape Town, South Africa — A new tyre recycling firm, SA Tyre Recyclers, plans to open a 25 000-square-meter plant in the Atlantis Industrial Park about 25 miles from Cape Town.

When it opens in February 2006, the facility will have a production capacity of more than 1000 tonnes of crumb rubber per month, and will be the first modern tyre recycling facility in South Africa, according to a company spokeswoman.
