EFTA car registrations fell sharply in year to August, as EU remains stable

Brussels — Registrations of passenger cars declined slightly in the year to August, despite a sharp rise in the monthly registration figures. The overall decline was due to 12.9 percent reduction in registrations in the new countries of central Europe. Within the original EU15 grouping, the number of registrations increased slightly in the 8-month period.
