Performance Fibers to build second PET fibre plant in China

Colonial Heights, Virginia –Performance Fibers, the former Honeywell fibres business, will build a second polyester fiber and fabric plant in Kaiping, China, to meet demand from China’s growing automotive market.

Performance Fibers said the facility will come on stream in 2006, doubling its annual production capacity for dimensionally stable polyester in China to 60 000 tonnes. The company did not disclose its budgeted investment for the factory.
